Benchmarking

Supporting understanding of the quality of care at individual healthcare provider level.

National Clinical Audit Benchmarking (NCAB)

HQIP’s National Clinical Audit Benchmarking (NCAB) website provides an interactive visualisation of metric results from across the National Clinical Audit and Patient Outcomes Programme, searchable by audit, topic, keyword and healthcare provider.

NCAB was originally created in collaboration between HQIP and CQC, with a vision to enhance the way not just inspectors, but also medical directors, local clinical audit teams and others engage, interact with and share national clinical audit data.

It is a unique public resource dedicated to the projects that HQIP commissions and particularly useful for understanding the quality of care at individual healthcare provider level.

Results on NCAB match those published in each project’s annual report. NCAB includes clinical care process and outcome information benchmarked against national standards, and compared between healthcare providers, indicating outlier status where relevant.

PLEASE NOTE: Consolidating data from audit databases across the programme happens episodically and takes time. For each individual project, there may well be more timely data available from the audits’ own websites and online data platforms – always check the detailed data view audit metric pages and audit guides on NCAB for links to these more timely data sources.
